Winter is here! Reports are in that the fat biking right now is kick ass on the Inn Trails at Mt. Peg. This winter you will have two great options for group fat bike riding:
1) Fat Tuesdays – meet up at 5pm at Woodstock Inn Nordic Center. Lights a must. Ride sponsored by Vermont Overland. Details below.
2) Sunday Funday! – meet up at 1pm at Woodstock Inn Nordic Center unless we call for a travel destination. This ride will be announced so that you know it is going and when and where to meet. Fat bike is recommended and Nordic Center passes are required if that is where we are riding. Ride will be 1-2 hours and no-drop – all ability levels welcome! Gavin Vaughan will lead the ride most Sundays.
There will be no Sunday Funday ride this Sunday, Christmas Day, but we plan to organize a ride for New Year’s Day so mark your calendar and start checking your tire pressure: low is the way to go.
Now, while we are very excited to announce WAMBA riding on Sundays, be sure to sign up for and check out all of the great Vermont Overland riding opportunities coming your way (starting tomorrow night!). Here are the details in Peter’s own words:
FAT TUESDAYS: The Woodstock Nordic Center is hosting a fat bike ride every Tuesday night at 5 pm (riding by 5:15). Just come to the Woodstock Country Club on Rt 106 in Woodstock and the Nordic Center is around back facing the golf course. Passes for the ride are $10 and you can also rent a fat bike for $10 if you’re just getting started. We also have full use the rather luxurious clubhouse locker rooms for changing, showering, etc. and they’re even open after the ride! This is a socially paced, no drop ride with lots of stops. 1-1.5 hours depending on weather. LIGHTS ARE A MUST! Beers at Worthy Kitchen afterwards!
The OVERLAND, Aug 27 at Suicide Six, Pomfret: Registration opens New Year’s Day at 10 am. No wait list this year so register early! http://www.vermontoverland.com/overland/
Your very own WAMBA VP, Matt
PS – where will you be on 12/27 at 7:30pm? I will be at the Woodstock Town Hall advocating for trails in Woodstock! We need as much support as possible at this meeting. Please attend.
