VT Legislature – Pick up your phone today…

Hi WAMBA,

The Vermont House Appropriations Commitee is debating the future of the VMBA Grant today.

See below from VMBA.

The Grant helps keep membership dollars flowing to the chapters.

Give the Statehouse a call today.  The Sargent at Arms will relay your message to the commitee.

FROM VMBA:

HEADS UP EVERYONE! This is not a drill… the House Committee on Appropriations is considering eliminating the VMBA grant today. This grant is a key element in ensuring that over 80% of your membership dollars go directly back to the chapters in support of your trails. Without this grant, that level of support is in serious jeopardy.
It’s time to RALLY – here’s the best thing you can do:

1. Call the Sgt-At-Arms in the state house and ask for a message to be delivered to your legislator on the committee (see list below) 802.828.2228

2. Be succinct and tell them that
* MTBing generates millions of dollars for VT’s economy every year. * Out of staters visit VT to ride six or more times a year – this grant helps us maintain the trail infrastructure that makes VT so appealing for VTers and visitors
* This grant is critical to the success of our annual festival every year, which brings riders here from seven states and Canada
* VMBA and its members have made tremendous use of these resources and have grown the association by over 300% with this support. We has always partnered well with Forests, Parks & Recreation.
EVERYONE THAT RIDES SHOULD CALL. Based on your proximity to the following chapters, here’s who you will have the Sgt-At-Arms deliver a message. Again the # to call is 802.828.2228:
Killington & Slate Valley Trails, Peter Fagan and Robert Helm
RIPM & Mad River Riders Catherine Toll (chair of the Committee)
SMBC, David Yacovone
Franklin Cty & Grateful Treads Kathleen Keenan
Fellowship & Richmond, Maureen Dakin
Addison Cty MTBers, Diane Lanpher
KT & St. Johnsbury, Martha Feltus
MAMBA, Mary Hooper
Melo Velo & Brewster Bernard Juskiewcz
STAB, Upper Valley & Putney, Matthew Trieber
